one of those days

Kimchi and rice

I wish that I had had my camera. The only things on my lunch tray were kimchi and rice. Everyone else had this Cuttlefish pepper paste extravaganza, this black sauce onion thing that looked really good but had beef in it, and this seafood soup. I wish that you could have seen it. What kind of annoys me is that they take money out of my paychecks to pay for the lunch every day.

It annoys me but it also makes me contemplate the importance of money. I am getting paid to help broaden the minds of Korean children. I manage to slip in anti-war or anti-gun or anti-cruelty or pro-environmental things into my lesson plans. If I see students hitting each other or pretending to shoot each other I tell them to stop. You can say "Ya!" to them which translates to "hey, you little rascal!", and they listen to you. You can only say ya to people who are younger than you though, of course.

And I learned some awesome stuff. Ja-yun boho means "protect nature". Or you can say "hwan-gyeong" (environment). Hwangyeong boho. To protect the environment.
