imagination
When I first arrived in Korea, I asked my co-teacher what he wanted to see most out of me in the classroom. Wait that sentence is bad. My co-teacher told me that the thing that he wanted most out of me was to teach the students about American culture. So, every week, I have tried to think of those things that are most important to American culture. Friends, the beach, cars, pizza...
This week is pizza. I am having the students design their untilmate pizzas, I am urging them to not be afraid to use their imaginations. I totally dig some of the responses that I'm getting. A few of the pizzas consist of only vegetables, (I'm not sure if thse students are just sucking up to me, but they seem genuine when they tell me that they don't like meat on their pizzas). One student told me that there were potato chips on his ultimate pizza, and another student drew this huge crab on his. One student was asking me what a really small shrimp was called, I told him that I didn't know. My co-teacher came around and suggested "crill", but I just don't know. I have a lot of trouble spelling the word cucumber.
