Daegu

I went to Costco. I was amazed at the similarities, aside from the fact that the place was 3 floors, it was exactly the same. Kirkland products galore, made in China... I bought two bags of ravioli. I bought two cans of organic peanut butter. The amount of free sample areas also surprised me. Granted, we were there on a Saturday afternoon, but still, there was a free sample place at about the end of every aisle. One was even giving out free samples of red wine. There was a free sample of cheesecake going on, and I had a little piece. It was a little icy, (it was not completely defrosted), but still it was nice. My co-teacher, Mr. Park, had a little piece and made a face and said that it was not that good.

You know how they have a "cash only" or debit card rule in the states? Well there's something similar here. Mr. Park tried to use a visa card, and the clerk said, " oh nooooo, only Samsung". I chuckled inside. I still can't believe how many different product Samsung makes. It goes way beyond electronics. I spent about 130 dollars. I mean, how can you go to Costco and spend any less than that? I saw some westerners there that were stocking their carts with block after block of cheese and pizza and frozen waffles and stuff. I also went to Mr. Park's apartment, it was an AWESOME place. On the 15th floor of this apartment building, on the southwest side of Daegu, next to this mountain. He said that he chose the location because the cool fresh air rolls off the mountain in the summer so he doesn't need air conditioning. He has two sons that had other things to do that evening, so his wife came along with us to a restaurant. I had some bi bim bap and some other awesome veggies. Once again, I was scolded by the restaurant owner for not eating meat.

I also bought a watch yesterday, a very useful item since tattoos are not very common here. Only gangsters have them, and as much as I think gangsters are badass, I don't think that my school wants to consider me a gangster.
