A 20 minute bus ride from my house. I'm teaching there 2 days a week. On Tuesdays, the Middle Schoolers. On Thursdays, the High Schoolers. The High Schoolers are kind of brats.
One of my co-teachers at that school, Teacher Yi, took me on a tour of the school and I was astounded to see a room there were lots of circular desks with soldering irons on them, and the kids were making electronics. I thought to myself, "What kind of school is this???" Because the teachers do not carry around sticks either. At lunchtime, I had to deal with (yet again) a lot of confusion surrounding my dietary needs, but it was ok because they had rice and a bean sprout dish, and some kimchi, there was a soup that had some tofu and some processed fish meat in it, so I ate some of that, but not much. I know, I am a bad person.
Since a lot of my jitters were taken care of at the Waegwan Middle School, I felt more confident at this school. I think that the teachers picked up on my confidence because they had me introduce myself to a 3rd grade High School class and lead the class discussion for 40 minutes. The time went by so quickly, I couldn't believe it. One girl asked me "how do you like the double eyelids?" I didn't know how to answer her, so she rephrased and asked "how do you like the Korean people?" It is funny that she would refer to herself like that.
The bus is going to be an interesting adventure. I am going to have to buy a watch.
One of the teachers just came by and gave me a little bottle of this red bull-ish tasting stuff and she said "for vitality".
