The word for a frog is gaeguri. And the word for a tadpole is ochaengi. There is a heavy U.S. Military presence in S Korea. Many people are upset by this, but in the same way that frogs don't remember that they were tadpoles, Korean people forget that the USA was asked to help and did not invade.
There are many American bases in Korea. A funny but true statement is that if you see a foreigner in this country they are either in the U.S. Military or are teaching English. With the exception of a few students, of course.
The main reason that Waegwan has developed the way that it has is there's a base here called Camp Carroll. This is where they service all of the broken down tanks and trucks and armored hummers or rockets or a-bombs or whatever. The importance of the base here led me to being a little freaked out that N Korea was going to attack Waegwan, but I am over that now. I don't think that N Korea is going to attack anyone. The Chinese, though... I bet Korea will be occupied by China in the next 50 years.

Why did they ask the US to be there?
