One of the first things that I noticed about this country is that they don't wash their hands very often. This fact caused me to insist that my parents sent me awesome huge bottles of hand sanitizer and I have my own private thing of liquid soap that I carry to and from the bathroom because there is no soap in there usually. I like to wash my hands BEFORE I pee, especially after I have had my hands all over a keryboard and a mouse or guitar strings and remotes or whatever. I have heard various arguments for and against this.
I finally figured out why there is little hand washing that goes on. It has to do with water heat. In this blog I have mentioned how the hallways are always cold. The water is also always cold. It is physically painful to wash your hands during the winter here. I shouldn't say that ALL of the water is not heated, I'm sure that there are some sinks that have hot water, but it is not common. This fact is a constant irritatant to me. I do it anyway, I deal with the bone chilling temperature of the water, because I don't want to touch my face with school computer mouses or doorknobs.
Ah, they don't have to worry about heating the water in places like this... No, I didn't take this picture but I was right there... Yeah that beach was my home for a couple of weeks...
